Cristiano Ronaldo Sets New World Cup Records with Brace

Cristiano Ronaldo's two-goal performance led Portugal to victory against Uzbekistan at Houston Stadium on Tuesday, marking a historic moment in FIFA World Cup history. At 41, Ronaldo continues to shatter records, adding to his impressive stats as the all-time leader in international goals (145) and appearances (230). During his sixth World Cup, Ronaldo achieved several milestones.

With his first goal, Ronaldo became the first player, male or female, to score in six different World Cups, surpassing Marta of Brazil and Christine Sinclair of Canada, who both scored in five. Lionel Messi, Ronaldo's long-time rival, has played in six World Cups but did not score in the 2010 edition.

Ronaldo's second goal saw him surpass Eusébio as Portugal's top World Cup goalscorer with 10 goals. Eusébio's nine goals, which secured the Golden Boot in 1966, stood as Portugal's record for decades.

Moreover, Ronaldo became the oldest player to score a brace in a World Cup match, just a day after Messi, at 38, set the record against Austria. Before this, Cameroon's Roger Milla held the record from the 1990 World Cup at age 38.
